Started in 2016, every four years on election day I set out to make large-format portraits outside my polling place in Detroit. Voters are invited to sit for a complimentary portrait, and later received a copy in the mail. This ongoing project creates opportunity to engage with my community beyond political rhetoric and demonstrate a diverse group of American citizens proud to exercise their democratic right. The images shown here are a only a small representation of many images made.
